I hope everyone had a great holiday and a happy New Year’s. I don’t usually make New Year’s resolutions, but this year I did decide that my sole resolution — or goal, as I prefer to think of it — is to start a blog. This blog.
Several of my friends blog, and I’ve decided that it is high time I tried it. But what should I blog about? This was the question I posed to one of my friends, who said, “Your pets, definitely — you can’t seem to stop talking about them, after all.”
I have two dogs and two cats (and a partridge in a pear tree — haha), and like my friend observed, they are my life. I talk about them all the time, to anyone who will listen. I even take them with me when I travel, which I have to do quite a bit for my job. I mean, hey, why not — I know plenty of people who take their significant others with them on business trips, so why not my pets?
After my friend’s comment, I started thinking about doing a pet blog, but it seems like everyone has a pet blog. I’m no expert on blogging, not by any means, but I do think that a blog ought to give someone a reason to want to read it. And who wants to read yet another pet blog, unless it’s by someone you know?
I want more than just friends and family to be interested in my blog, so while I was in my hotel with my dogs one night, I was trying to brainstorm a more unique focus. Then it occurred to me — how about a pet travel blog? My pets often come on trips with me, so it’s definitely a topic I know lots about. Besides, I think it would be fun to write about all the adventures they have with me when we travel.
So there you have it — the birth of My Pet Friendly Travel Blog!
