I am very slowly learning more about this blogging thing.  I hope you haven’t been too bored with my early posts.  According to some of the stuff I’ve been reading about blogging, there are a few things I should have been doing but I haven’t.

A friend of mine who has been blogging for over a year suggested I read a book called ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income.  She said that I can ignore all the stuff about income if I don’t want to advertise on my blog, but that the book has some good advice about how to blog.  I didn’t know there was a “right” way to do it, but I guess you learn something every day, huh?  (And who better to learn it from than someone who has made their fortune at blogging?)

So now I’m filling my head with things like keywords, lists, series and how-to posts, etc.  Apparently I’m not supposed to write long, rambling posts (oops), I’m supposed to be using keywords (haven’t figured out what those should be yet), and oodles of other “shoulds” and “should nots” that I am supposed to remember at all times.  It’s all very confusing, so please bear with me while I figure it all out.

In a way, though, I’m glad I have books like this one to help me out while I learn the ropes.  When I first started taking the dogs with me on trips, I didn’t have any resources — I learned everything from scratch, trial-and-error style.  There were a lot more errors than I’d like to admit, especially in the beginning… such as that first trip when I learned that you can’t just walk into any ol’ hotel with a dog!

Hopefully with books like this to guide me (and I plan on reading a few more) I won’t make any crucial errors like that with my blog.  If only I’d had some help when I first started traveling with the girls — but then, of course, that’s why I’m writing this blog in the first place.  If I can spare someone else the embarrassment of being thrown out of a hotel for bringing a big dog face-to-face with a hotel manager who was clearly petrified of all canines…  I’ll be happy.

Anyway, hopefully next time you hear from me I’ll be much smarter about blogging!
